The Bermuda National Library has selected and implemented The Galecia Group's "BookPoints" summer reading application software for the 2021 summer reading season. The Bermuda National Library is the public library service for the territory's 63,000 residents, and the summer reading program, "Tails & Tales," will be aimed at the approximately 10,000 youth who live on the islands.
Marla Smith, Youth Services Librarian for the Bermuda National Library, reports that "BookPoints software is a godsend for libraries who do not have the IT personnel or time to create summer reading programs." When asked about the selection of BookPoints, Ms. Smith answered:
"We chose BookPoints because it allowed us to be able to tailor our summer reading program the way we wanted it. It had so many options to use and offered us the reports that we would need for program assessment."
The BookPoints Project team at The Galecia Group wish the people of Bermuda a safe and successful summer reading season!
BookPoints is an open source tool that libraries use to build interactive summer reading websites for their communities. First released in 2016, BookPoints has been used by tens of thousands of patrons at dozens of libraries in multiple countries. BookPoints offers a wealth of family-friendly and librarian-friendly features, including a full suite of summer reading activity reports. The BookPoints project also offers affordable managed hosting solutions for online summer reading websites. BookPoints is a service of The Galecia Group, a library technology consulting firm and creators of the LibraryCall Dial-A-Story service.
